About The Choir Festival

30 years!
That’s how long I’ve been in the music ministry.

And so
what my project is
is to bring all of the people I’ve worked with over the years
together for a major music festival.

Not necessarily to celebrate my 30 years in music ministry,
but to celebrate music.
Period.
To celebrate music.
To make music,
to share music,
to give music.
To give thanks and praise.
To share the joy that is music.

This event
is creating a time and a place
for choir members and musicians
of different churches to come together
and celebrate their role
in the life of the church.

And so I'm inviting  various parish choirs,

including those choirs
that serve at the parishes where I have worked,
to come and perform
at least 3 songs of their choosing.

The event will be bilingual,
Spanish and English,
as the parishes where I have served
have celebrated liturgy
in both languages!

And as others watch,
they are free to join in the music making.
A guitarist can “walk on’ and just join in,
for example.
Or just pick up his/her guitar
from where they are seated and follow along,
if they so prefer.

It’s performing music.
It’s creating music.
It’s joining in the fun
of the music ministry.

I especially plan
for the children to be “hands on” players
in this event.
Let the children grab a tambourine
or the maracas
or claves. ..
. . whatever tickles them,
whatever inspires them at the moment.
Children are not only most welcome at this event,
I encourage them to Make a Joyful Noise!

Even more,
we will have a few soloists who are children at this event.
And the children’s choir I currently direct
will also be a part of this event.

The closing of this event
will include music
that all choirs and musicians
will perform together,
en masse.

Everyone and Anyone is welcome to attend this event.
There is no entrance fee or admission price.
However,
a freewill offering will be accepted
to help defray the costs incurred in sponsoring this event
(hall rental, insurance, sound system, printing and pr costs, etc.)
You'll soon be able to donate online,
if you so choose.

I hope to see you there!
